Question about Clarion unit.

Hey guys

I was thinking to make myself a small X-mas gift and upgrade my headunit. Im currently looking for a Clarion VRX925VD. Its an expensive toy, so i just wanted to know if anyone have it and your opinion on this unit.

Thank you a lot.

I have a DXZ925 cd player in my ML430. It is great. Easy to use. Sorry, don't have the DVD player you want. I'm sure its great. Clarion has been really good to me....I highly recommend them.

I have the clarion VRX925DVD in my SLK 32 AMG. It works great, plays MP3's, menu with full longfile names (as long as it's burned in ISO Level 2 Filename mode), plays VCD's, DVDs, and is hooked up to my Alpine Nav as well. The Alpine Nav mutes the clarion when it gives instructions, so I can listen to MP3/VCD while getting nav instructions here and there. The screen isn't as crisp as the pioneer or alpine units, but works well. The unit will fit any DIN sized space.

The Cons : Touchscreen gets nasty with fingerprints 5 mins after cleaning, no easy way to change "folders" when playing MP3 CD's with multiple folders (try using the menu to do it while driving...), VCDs for some reason doesn't continue at the same place when shutting the unit off/turning off car, the unit sticks out 1/2 an inch, and the "removable faceplate" doesn't really deter theft (you can't tell it's off so it'll get stolen even though it wont work).

Overall it's a great unit for the price. I've burned tons of music video VCDs off MTV, so I can listen to songs and watch videos (passengers hehe) while driving. I'll probably upgrade when/if a better unit comes out, but nothing has all the features of the Clarion.

Fixed this problem... VCD's with PBC (playback control information) restarts whenever u turn off/turn on the unit. Solution is to burn VCD's without PBC or pres PBC on the remote for discs with PBC. My music video collection plays awesome in the car now!
