CD Magazine stuck and no power!!
Hi,
I have just bought a 1999 E55 with a stock BOSE system and CD changer. However, when turned on the stereo reads NO CD and when I try to eject the magazine, nothing happens. I don't even here the motor working to eject the magazine, the button is unresponsive.
I have removed the whole Changer unit and am now trying to get the magazine out manually, it's in pieces and I havn't got it yet!!
Any advice on what might be wrong?? POWER?? JAMMED??
Thanks

I assume you checked the fuse before you pulled the unit, especially because you said it had no power.
If it had power but just didn't eject, it may be a plastic sensor that tells the player a cartridge is in it. Some folks have posted detailed instructions for cleaning CDCs and overcoming that problem, but I don't have them bookmarked to give you.
Other than that, it looks like you need to replace it or send it off for repair. Do a Google search for "Mercedes radio repair."
Sorry, no magic bullets.

Thanks for your reply,
The fuse for the audio equipment is fine because everything else is working fine (I also checked it). Is there a seperate fuse for the changer? There isn't like an in-line fuse is there?
Oh how I wish you had magic bullets!! lol
Cheers

DOH!!
There was no power because it wasn't plugged into the headunit!! Whoever installed the aftermarket mp3 player (below the original cassette player) left the changer power supply disconnected.
However, now it just reads "no CD" when there is one in it!! I'm going to follow one of OHLORD's instructions with the ignition but unfortunately I do not have the radio code, which means I can't do a battery reset...
Do I have to go to mercedes for the code?
Cheers
