2001 E320 RWD - Brilliant Silver/Ash: 100,000+
I bought my 2001 E320 as pre-owned and it was originally equipped with COMAND/NAV. Under CPO warranty the unit was replaced but I did not get a radio code card and none came with the car when I bought it.
I called the dealer and the VMI does not show any radio codes on the VMI. The service writer was stumped and said he's look into it. Should I have had a code (old) and should I have gotten one with the new unit? I do not need it right now, but I'm curious after reading so many posts about these.
Thank you in advance,
MM

Odd if your service writer expected the unit having a code.

COMANDs do not use a code, for the reason provided by Diesel Benz. COMANDs are pretty much unique to Mercedes, and are sometimes limited to certain models. That's why your dealer could not find the code.
I had the same experience with my '00 when I tried to get the code from my dealer before I added an early iPod integration. He searched for 2 days, and couldn't get a code, and finally found out they don't use one.
