Latest BT Puck = no SMS?
I just got the latest BT puck to replace my BT RAZR cradle.
With the RAZR cradle, incoming SMS's were shown in the car.
Now that doesn't work.
I also have a Blackberry 8830 which MB says works w/ the BT cradle. I have the latest version of the BT cradle, again incoming SMS's aren't shown but everything else works.
Any ideas?

Diesel Benz is correct. In the U.S., only plug-in phones support SMS; Bluetooth HFP does not.
The RAZR V3 cradle was an odd hybrid. When in the cradle, your RAZR V3 was essentially a plug-in phone, and it even coupled to your car's external antenna. If you used it while not in the cradle, it was Bluetooth - no SMS and no coupling to the external antenna. I should add that, perhaps because of the oddities of its design, only RAZR phones could be paired with that cradle; it wouldn't pair (function in the Bluetooth mode) with any other phone.
No straight Bluetooth setup in U.S. specification cars supports SMS display on the HU or COMAND.

Wow I had no idea. Ok, well, that resolves that issue then.
I did notice the other day if I put the BB8830 right next to the BT puck the # of bars on the COMAND display went from 2 to 4 but could just be coincidence.

I'm not sure how it works with the US adapters but my car shows the BT connection signal strength in BT HF mode, not the cellular signal strength. Then if I use BT SAP or a cradle, Comand starts to show the cell phone signal strength. Odd that you can go down to 2 though, perhaps your phone is transmitting at very low BT power.

You could probably use the Euro BT SAP adapter if you bring your car to this side of the pond. The point is that a SAP adapter is a real dual band GSM phone and it does not support the US frequencies. Even if the US phone kit recognised the adapter, it would not work with the US networks.

I can verify that the RAZR BT cradle will not pair with other phones. I see AT&T has a deal going on Refurbished 8GB iPhone G3's for $99 on a two year contract (16GB for $199.) Thought I would update my original iPhone. Was thinking of going back to a single phone setup but the would have to buy a new puck ($250 on eBay.) But I decided I would stay with the two phones and just upgrade the iPhone for $99.
Love the SL but miss the S technology and the GL "BIG" ride. I'll stay with the SL for awhile. Hope all is well in sunny FL.
