Upgrades for comand
whats the score with upgrading comand?
here in the uk we have no teleaid, no online traffic news and no tv tuner?
what can i do to make my system actually do something other than mapping?

Check out http://www.nav-tv.com . They have retorfit kits for most factory NAV systems and they're pretty affordable. Here in the US, the $2500 factory MB TV tuner does not work on US cars. I wish the screen were larger (16:9 like the new BMWs), but a tuner with DVD would be a nice add-on.

Hi, Im in the UK too - I have added TV, and voice recognition to my CLK ... MB said it was impossible to start with, but since I only used MB bits they were talking rubbish. Now TV and poss. voice recognition are options.
- I was going to add a rear TV screen (using S class bits) and aux dvd inputs but then I figured that was stupid when theres never anyone in the back and the screens are really too small to get any enjoyment from DVD :-)
Instructiions are on my web site, www.ibex.co.uk
My local dealer (Sunningdale) was more than helpful and parts worked with me to get the correct bits and service let me look at the wiring diagrams etc

The standard MB tuner (European) has two auxiliary video inputs, from memory one supports SVHS(or was it RGB) and both support composite video. It only supports PAL and SECAM (i.e no good for USA NTSC) - although the MB documentation for COMAND (in the MB WIS (workshop info. system)) sugests there is a NTSC tuner available (is NTSC used somewhere else ? What is used in Japan ?)

This topic has been hashed over many times. I still have never seen anyone in the US get this thing working with factory MB parts. It would sure be SWEET !
