is theyre any way I can hook up my ipod to the factory radio by either using a aux cable or a ipod adapter? I have a clk500 pre face lift it has the same radio as the c class guys have.

Hey audiguy - what happens if you hold down (or hit it a couple of times..) the CDC button on your radio? If you get "AUX", then you have the possibility of running a cable. (Sorry I can't be more specific, not super familiar with the CLK's)

I want to do something similar to hook my iPhone up to the factory stereo. I tried the trick you reccomended and it says my Aux input is activated. What kind of adapter would I need?

astropat -- chances are you just need a cable to run from the back of your radio to the glovebox. I assume you've checked the far side of the glove box and there's no 1/8" jack there? It can be hard to notice if you are not looking for it...

Yeah... no 1/8" jack back there in the glove box. How difficult would it be to install this myself? I have zero experience handling radios or messing around with cars.
Are there any reliable online sources that show a step-by-step install? I think I saw one on mercupgrades.com, but it showed it for a SLK. How different would it be for a W209? And all I would need is part# A2104405005.
I figure I should start playing around and learning more about the car. Especially if I want to install an aftermarket HU down the road. I really appreciate the info, UK!

I think the part you need is A2034401808, which shows up in EPC as the "walkman cable" for the CLK with the A20 head unit.
I'm not a CLK guy by any stretch, but it looks to me like you car has (like some 203's) a harness already run to the wiring tray under the door that you would plug this one into - it does not look like it plugs into the HU.
I'd ask the question again on the CLK thread, maybe someone there will have some personal experience. I'll also dig around later tonight and see if I can find any MB retro-fit instructions...

Easy Install
My cable just got in (part # A 210 440 50 05), but I did notice on the package it had the same number that John mentioned (maybe UK part #?).
Anyway, I've never fixed anything or installed anything in a car before and it took about 15 min. Hardest part was realizing I needed some man strength to pull apart the door sill. I was scared of ripping things apart and damaging it, but really wasn't bad... stuff popped out easier than I imagined.
At any rate, that link in my previous post for the C230 pretty much worked the same for my W209.
