First off, before I start, I must thank Steve (email: s_krabbenborg@hotmail.com) for performing this installation. I must also thank David (dwang) for hosting us.

That being said, I just wanted to share with everyone my recent experience in my endeavor to install a Comand navigation system into my baby, my CLK430.

After reading various emails about this guy Steve Krabbenborg from the Netherlands, I decided to contact him and arrange for him to install a Euro Comand system into my CLK upon his next trip to the states. He has per other members accounts installed many other Comand systems, so I decided to give it a go.

Let me tell you: his installation was utmost top-notch! I have seen other people work on cars, yet this guy takes the cake. His work is even 10 times more professional than what I've seen at MB dealerships!

He takes utmost detail in taking care of your car, and does a clean a very, very professional installation. And talk about knowledgeable, he knew not only about COMANDs but all about other MB-related stuff what we talked about while he installed my COMAND.

When all was said and done, I had a Euro COMAND system installed into my CLK. I'll attach before and after pictures below (excuse the dust, )

I just wanted to say I HIGHLY recommend Steve to anyone who is considering installing a COMAND system or other aftermarket parts into their car. If anyone has any questions, they can contact me directly at safet150@yahoo.com.

Do you find yourself mapping out directions to go from home to work and back again, even though you've done it a million times?

How about down the block to the nearest grocery store which is only 2 blocks away?

Can't wait til you get to the Bay Area Steve! And hopefully you'll have the RGB connectors by then? any status on that?

Yes, you'll be coming to my shop! We don't have the plans yet because it depends on how Steve does in LA.

Hmm, we'll keep an eye out for you out front. Try and let the security folks know that you're mostly harmless, they have itchy trigger fingers.

Yes, it can be done to a 2002 CLK430 Cab. The warranty of the car is unaffected, it is as if the installation of any aftermarket stereo has been performed. It's just that the stereo is not aftermarket, so the dealership will probably give you even less hassle.

Scorchie, can you check to see my command and the left Euro Bi-xenon are there. I just wonder if I can get the xenon first(will paid for that first) and Steve install the command later. Please let me know.

So I want one of these. What actually is different with the Euro version? Is there any down side to putting it in my car? Do I incur any monthly charges. How soon could I get one?

The Difference On the EURO Comand is RDS radio display system
features Station name call sign,Artist name and song all on the screen on the comand and The Combi cluster,Also you have a TV output for a DVD/T.V. And a Sweet Euro accent for Directions
There is Only one downside the USA warranty will NOT cover the Euro comand...There are No Monthly charges...

Yeah see it says "Power105", not 105.1Mhz. Although not all stations have this.

that light is in the LA crate...not in the SFr crate...it will get to the SFr area when I come up as well...I had no space in the SFr crate left.

I like the RDS in the Euro COMAND. Is it possible to add RDS to the US COMAND in my 2001 E 430?

How do you get the euro comand to display english?
also, have you used the tv function with a dvd or camera? does the unit have a plug on the back just for that?
