will this even work with digital tv signals? Eh never mind it's just used for input and it does not do audio. I have been looking for a digital tv tuner in my other vehicle, but I haven't found any yet. :\

uhm....no. This won't work when we go digital.

but back to the main topic, I have used the conversion box that was linked, and while they do work, they are a band aid, but there is no real solution unless you find a command with a back up camera in the junk yard.

the circuit board that is interfaced will get destroyed if a MB tech removes the radio knowing it is not there, possibly damaging the COMAND, plus the Circuit board is exposed at all times. Like I said a Band Aid, but your options are really limited

definately a good price though if NIB

I have installed them as well.. its like jbondox says, its not the ideal solution because:

A. Its just a video input, no audio in to the comand

B. it involves opening your comand and adding a circuit board which if done improperly can damage the comand

C. you still have to add a video source, camera, or both

D. if you have a command with the flip down face forget it, they never seem to be able to tell you where you are supposed to put the ribbon so that it doesnt break or jam when the face opens (answer: they dont know)

absolutely there are... take it from me as a guy who has installed every one of these rgb interfaces multiple times... There is *only* one way to do it and have it be reliable and that involves disassembling the *entire* command.

Anyone can see this for themselves: press the open button so that the screen retracts down and then look behind the screen. see that ribbon? thats where you have to install the interface circuit board and extra ribbon. so where do you put the circuit board and all the extra ribbon? I have seen instructions that tell you to put the ribbon cable around the chassis and underneath the unit except when you do that the screen mechanism hits the cable. Ever see the inctructions that they provide? its not even funny (even when you can understand the broken english and misspelled words.)

As I said the only way to make it work involves taking the *whole* command apart: about 60 screws and even then the little interface board barely fits. No end user is going to be able to do it and most audio shops have huge problems doing it reliably.

Not true. I have the Nav-video installed in a 2005 CLK55 with stock head unit that has the tilt open screen to access CD slot. The circuit board is mounted to the bottom of the radio. The screen opens and closes just fine without any issues. It allows input for my Kenwood audio system, backup camera, and DVD video all on the navigation screen. A small button was installed to toggle between the video inputs and the stock nav. They also provide a wireless remote control instead of mounting a button.

sounds like the bandaid we are talking about... can't wait to the MB tech that has to pull the command for something and the circuit board under the radio gets ripped out... been there, done that, seen it... and the best part is that it isn't there fault!

Wait.. the other one I seen was when a guy in VA lost his command passing through... that exposed circuit board under the radio hit the radio and poof

it is a bandaid, and junk... replace it with an aftermarket
