nubi aftermarket audio help

Hi guys.
I was wondering a couple of things. I think im looking to put subs into my car. I enjoy music and I think the benz has nice audio already. I think i just need a bit more bump.
I have decided to go with a shallow mount sub in order to save trunk space. Pioneer seems to have the ones i want. my options are either
2 12" @1000W with 250 rms
1 12" @1500W with 400rms
or 2 12" @1500w with 400rms
all are 4 ohms.

I dont know which set up to get . most shallow mount enclosures come in single so i might actually have to build one during the summer. But i dont mind.
I dont want to have my car like rattling like a tin can so im a bit skeptical about the 2 12"s at 400rms. But im not sure how much actual power they are pushing. So im here asking you guys and seeing what you guys think of your own set ups. haha which do you recommend and why?

Thanks
B Heng

first you need to research a bit more the woofer specs, i have never heard

2 12" @1000W with 250 rms
if the peak rating is 1000 watts and the RMS 250... you'd want a 250 watt amp not 1000

look into JL Audio and their shallow sub line www.jlaudio.com

haha u read my mind.

im actually getting the JL audio shallow mount 135w5-3.
it costs a lot but i think its worth it.
this one is a 1500watt sub with 600rms
so i should get a 600 watt amp? what if i got a 500. i dont want my sub to blow out so i dont wanna overpower it.

where are you getting your info from?

try the source!

http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_s...p?series_id=30

500 watt amp will put it in the danger zone, but use the JL 500/1 anyways... if you are doing the sub

just make sure it is properly set

oh i forgot to add that instead of getting the shallow w5. i went with the w6. and i think it needs about 400 to 500 rms from the amp according to the site.

haha sorry.

but this one is dual 4ohm so does that mean i run the 4ohm set up only?

Nice decision! But can you tell me, how it will cost in doing all these things?

like the labor? I will be doing that myself. =P

Parts--I will slowly collecting them right now. So far, I only have the 12w6 subwoofer. I will be acquiring the amp at the end of the month. should be no more than 250.
the enclosure should be around 100
and if i decide to get a cap, I will be spending another 150.

but I will let you know with what i get over time.

save the 150 and get a better amp or 4 gauge kit... telling you the cap isn't going to do anything for you

the cap is coming with a 4gauge kit...tho. which is 150. haha. i think without it, the 4 guage kit would only be like 50 to 70...
Im debating on just buying the kit. i mean, if i DO need the cap, then i could always get it later.

ok. So right now i have the sub.
i will be getting the amp within the next couple of weeks.
I think will be purchasing a 4 gauge kit priced at 80 after that. I will also contact second skin for pricing for the trunk...
