Will installing an aftermarket HU void my warranty?
I just picked up a Kenwood HU, but I've been getting this weird error occassionally on my cluster display. It'll say "Passenger airbag activated" or sometimes "passenger airbag deactivated". It has happened 3 or 4 times before, but hasn't happened in about 2-3 weeks.
Has anyone ever had a similar problem? My car is still under warranrty until Aug 2010, I'm just wondering if I can go ahead with the HU install before having MB take a look at it... or if it's something I should even be concerned with.

Do you have something on your passenger seat when you get these error messages? The seat is supposed to detect weight and sense if there is a passenger or not so it would enable and disable the passenger airbag.
Technically adding a HU shouldn't void the waranty unless dealer can prove your aftermarket part caused the specific failure of the related component. But could be a hassle to deal with extra headache so get it checked out first.

It's happened while my gf was in the car the last time, but it also happened when I didn't have a passenger. I would get the message immediately upon start up and the malfunction would be listed on the screen until I turn off the car. It'll either go away or come back the next time. Overall, it just happens randomly and I can't repeat it.
I guess it's not really that bad, just kind of annoying... but also makes me feel like my car is experiencing some electronic glitches.
