JL Cleansweep

I was thinking about adding a 12" sub and amp to my CLS55. Does anyone have experience with the JL Cleansweep? What is the procedure for adding an amp for just a sub and leaving the speakers stock (for now) until I can afford new crossovers/tweeters and amps for them?

Thanks!

no need for a cleansweep when adding a sub... what would give you that idea?

utilize the wires going to the factory sub would be a start... Most quality amplifiers have high level inputs.

I was going to do the clean sweep also, but after some reading i found out using a hi low converter was the best and easiest optiion. you can pick one up at best buy for 20 bucks. Very easy to install and works with any amps.

The only problem with the converters is that they start to distort when you have high wattage feeding them.. even the ones built in to the amps. The bass is very distorted and of phaze with the music. The added benifit of adding a signal proccesor is it changes the frequency in to a flat line and lets the amplifier do its job better.. You get much cleaner bass.

Good luck

adding a cleansweep just for sub bass is a waste of money and time, first off I have ran several in many years of adding audio to various cars, do i see it as a bandaid.. used to, but in reality it is just providing a signal, do they alter the signal drastically that you can hear the distortion? not if properly tuned... BTW you can have up to 10% distortion in subs before you can audibly notice.. and most people it is about 15%...

The quality of the Audison amps that I use, sometimes JL also, are more superior than the off the shelf $10-$20 line output converter... so obviously the better the equipment the better the sound as long as the installation is completed perfectly

hope that makes sense
