Sirius installed or not?

My 2007 CLK 350cab had a note with it showing that the previous owner had subscibed to Sirius. When I push the SAT button, the display says acquiring. If I press the ESN softkey, it will give me an id number for the unit. It is the same number shown on the PO's subscription note. However, the speedometer diplay says NO SAT. Where should I look to determine if there is a Sirius receiver installed?

Sounds like you have SDARS installed, only thing I can think of is that the previous owner did not have the car re-coded to support it. Only way to get the ESN is from the SDARS receiver...

I would like to believe that there is a SDARS unit installed in the vehicle. The only other way I could think of that I might get an id # would be if the main "CPU" has somehow saved the number and is displaying it when I press the ESN softkey.

I have searched this AV board and it seems the SDARS should be located in the trunk behind the right tailight. Looking through an access panel in the trunk floor I see something mounted to the body behind the tailight. However there are orange fiber optic cables and blue and white cables not connected to it. There is some sort of coaxial cable connected to it. What else could this be if not the SDARS?

Hey John, I'm a R171 and W203 sorta guy - no personal experience on the CLK's at all. Pictures may help, and I'd ask on the CLK thread as well...

Thanks for the response. I've tried the CLK threads as well. Think I'll try another couple of boards. Information on Sirius is a little thin for Mercedes.

beater with a heater
take it in for an oil change and ask them to look to get the SID #, or next time it is for maintenance, call to see if there is a recall for something... most will not mind since it only takes 10 minutes, and if they have to scan anyways so be it
