E63 Audio upgrades

What are you folks doing to the HK systems that come in the car? adding subs? amps.. changing speakers?...

I'd love to add a sub, the one that's in there is a joke.

just find the right shop, because I have seen many butchered jobs from inexperienced shops. I know many quality shops across the nation, where you at? I will post some references for you.

I know it is a little way but I'd have them make the trip south to La Jolla Audio in San Diego.

Milwaukee, WI area?

I used to do competition installs 20 years ago, and still dabble a little bit on my own stuff. A lot has changed on some models in regards to audio wiring. I still have several sets of subs, amps, and some basic boxes also. I'm really looking for direction on how to pick up signal on my CLS 63 without messing up the factory harness. I just want to add a sub / amp /box. I thought I heard that certain amps could now accept speaker level input, with high quality.

I will look into it for you, not to many shops up that way I know.

If you are going to add a sub though, the easiest way is to tap the signal going to the factory sub, depending on the amps you have you can use a hi level converter,, which is a high resistance signal converter, it will take the signal and give you an RCA out to run to your amp.

I don't mind buying a new amp if it has new technology to make this easier. I thought I heard Alpine ? had some sort of digital input on one of their amps. What hook ups have you seen? And where are the best intercept / tie in points? I never would use the old speaker level converter boxes in the old days. Have they changed for the better?

It really isn't much difference than when they are integrated into the amp.

I gutted the system entirely and replaced with JL and Focal equipment (stock head unit though).

Can check thread at https://mbworld.org/forums/audio-ele...o-install.html
