Comand 2.0 Video In Motion

I am sure that this has been well covered in the past, but searching didn't give me what I was looking for.

Collective wisdom: What's the best solution for doing video in motion for a D2B Comand system.

What I would like to do is allow video input from an ipod, either RGB or composite video via the dock using one of Apple's adapter cables in order to allow my wife the ability to watch video on long trips (and just for the 'I can do it so I did it' factor).

It is a factory 2003 Comand 2.0 head unit, with the blank TV/Sat button (I actually have the MB part number if that mattered). I am "budget aware" for this project, but not trying to figure the cheapest cost route, more the "best value" route.

Any experience/advice appreciated!

Thanks. I've looked at that. Did you install yourself....everything doing fine for you? It is the only option I've found out there, just haven't heard much in the way of what people thought.

Yes, I installed it myself. Took about 2 hours with some aggravation. It is the only unit that I know of that does not require physically sending the nav unit somewhere to activate the blank button. The picture is pretty good...I have an Ipod hooked up with good results. I see you are located in ATL.... I am in Athens if you need some troubleshooting help.

Thanks! I may look for you once I scrape up the cost of the unit. I got to figure out how to get that together without telling the wife how much I'm spending .

I can't imagine them selling a lot of those. I would call them and see if that is the best they can do on the price.

Is there a similar item on the market that would work on a 07 E350? I tried the vehicle selector and NAV-TV doesnt seem to do one for the E350.

IF and only if your '07 has DVD display while stationary, you might look at https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...-189-00-a.html. If you cannot display DVD video while stationary, then skip this.

I cannot play DVD's at all. Do I need a new Command unit to do so, or is there a work around for that as well?

No work-around. Your only choice would be to go to a newer COMAND system at a cost of $4-5K.
