[ML320 2001] -- Replace Factory Audio System
I own a 2001 ML320 and I'd like to replace the factory audio system with something a little more up-to-date.
I really know nothing about cars but I'm very much interested in enhancing the entertainment options within my vehicle.
I've been reviewing a few sites and I've seen many different GPS / Radio / DVD models that would be a great replacement. The only problem is getting the right product and finding a way to install the new equipment.
For your convenience, I have attached a picture of my existing radio.
I'm not sure how easy it will be to replace the radio myself. But I did find a tool on EBAY that can be used to at least remove it:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...1250&viewitem=
So, here are my questions:
#1. What are the dimensions of my existing radio and what are my replacement options? Basically, the replacement I want is a 2-DIN and the dimensions are: W: 178 mm H: 100 mm D: 160 mm (with front panel: 180 mm). Does that match? If not, what should I be looking for? And where is the best website to look for replacement radio for my car?
#2. How difficult is it to replace radio systems? Should I get a professional? Sounds like a stupid question since I already acknowledged that I'm not too familiar with cars, but wanted some opinions on the level of difficulty.
Apparently I used 2 questions to ask about 10 so I'm hoping someone out there is able to help me.
Many thanks in advance for your assistance. Happy Holidays!

Tetsa,
I replaced my factory system with a standard 2-DIN system and it has been working well for years. If you were to purchase any 2-DIN system, you should be fine.
I got a professional to do the installation. I'm in NY so I was able to find someone from a local car audio garage to install for about $90.
