COMMAND DISPLAY/SCREEN FRIED???

My son detailed my wife's 04' E320 wagon this weekend and came in with the bad news pictured below. I believe the culprit might have been windex and elbow grease, but not sure. I've never had any problem with the unit's display and have wiped it off with a clean rag from time to time with no damage. Anyway, the proper display appeaered on and off briefly then finally went to what is pictured. All functions and audio work normally except for the dislay.

Am I screwed?
Any cures/simple fixes?
Do I need a new unit or screen?
Is it possible to buy the screen alone/anyone know where?

THANKS FOR ANY AND ALL HELP!

PS- I searched posts all day yesterday and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks, I read that one but I don't think mine is a matter of the non glare coating being rubbed off, I think there has to be some other issue because it showed the display for a short time then started to flicker briefly, leaving me with the present display. Plus I can still see the coating on the display.

Try a reset by pulling fuse at interior fuse panel (f28) for a few minutes then reinstall.

display

I did not have this issue. I only wiped the antiglare which in reality doesn't bother me at all. When it is switched off it shows some antiglare left on the sides..
But what you have it looks like electronically you damaged something. My LCD works.

There are repair/replacement sources in the W220 S-Class Owners Start Here sticky in the W220 forum. They will work for your E-Class as well. See https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...tart-here.html and check under "COMAND."
