Universal phone adapters in June
Did you read the news on Benzworld? Am I to believe that we will be able to use existing phones and plans in the new cars? As long as they are Nokia, Motorola and Ericson?
Without the hassle? That would be great. Anybody knows anything more about that? Will it be possible to retrofit what ever it will be to older models like 98 E clas?

I know that the E (211) class is due to get integrated bluetooth adapter, but not when. My friendly dealer tech had spotted the circuit diagrams in their WIS system some time ago.
If its like anyother bluetooth car-kit, then it should bond to any phone with bluetooth.
This is of course, subtly different to what the article is claiming (ie, that there will be a number of different cradles available)
BUT, the new E class uses MOST bus, not D2B for its audio interconnect - so it will only work with the new MOST head units which include the Audio-50 and DVD based COMAND-II that you currently only get in the new E class.
I doubt they will be making the adapter for the D2B based vehicles , and I would guess that they will be upgrading the S/CL class (and maybee others) to MOST (and therefore the new DVD based COMAND system) at around the same time. (I seem to remember my friendly tech told me that the MOST based wiring diagrams are in WIS for the S/CL recently)
