Question Haunted CD player?

I just got this 212 three weeks ago with 5600 miles on it (it was an executive car) an I am having this strange issue with the CD player. I have 3 discs loaded and a couple of times when I shut the car off to run an errand when I come back and start it up it jumped to the beginning of the next disc. In addition, yesterday when it happened I didn't want to listen to that disc so I just hit the mute to shut it off. Then as I was driving the sound kept un-muting every 5 or 10 minutes and it was back to the very beginning of the CD. This happened a half dozen times until I switched to radio and mute and then the system stayed quiet Everything else seem to work fine.

Any ideas?

If it matters, this is a P2 car and the discs are DVD audio and SACD. I suppose I could try it with regular CDs.

I first thought it could be a poor quality DVD media issue but if the car un-mutes randomly, then it sounds more like a SW but at the head unit. Have you asked if the dealer could update it to the latest SW?

I haven't talked to the dealer yet but software seems like a real possibility. Especially since everything else works fine.

Update: I was reading through the manual again tonight and it turns out that when you hit mute on DVD player it acts as the "pause" key. The book doesn't say anything about a time out on pause but I would think it would be logical since my home DVD players all do this. There is an actual stop key that I should have tried and will when I get a chance. I no longer think this is a symptom.

So I think the switching disks is probably related to the player's ability (or lack of) to keep track of it's place on a DVD audio. The manual actually warns about this as well in cryptic language so I may have answered my own question. Won't hurt to ask about a software update thought.
