Does an in-dash CD player exist for a C class (202)? Basically, is there an Audio 10 in-dash CD player that doesn't require CAN-BUS? Thanks..

Yes. If you'd like one let me know.

p.s. it still uses fibre optic for the CD changer.

I don't really need the CD Changer if the head unit has an in-dash player. Again, this is for the 202 and not the 203. If it uses d2b for the CD changer, won't that mean that it would source the headlight signal from d2b also? And that would mean that the head unit would not illuminate when the headlights are on as the 98 202 doesn't have CANBUS. Thanks..

P.S. How much?

You're confusing D2B and CANBUS, they are completely separate interfaces for separate functions.

The CD changer is on D2B (fibre optic) and I just wanted to warn you, because you have a 1998 car which was not originally fitted with FO.

The headlight signal comes from two places, depending on the vehicle: illumination wire, and interior CANBUS. Your 1998 car does have some items that receive illumination signal from CANBUS (turn on your headlights and watch the illumination on your climate control... note the delay... this is due to network latency on CANBUS).

I know there are at least two different versions of Audio 10 CD (single DIN style) that vary in their CANBUS implementation, and I was proposing that you use the older style (I believe it does not work with steering wheel controls... the newer CANBUS style does work with steering wheel controls). We can double check the illumination for you before sending it out.

Steve (MBenzNL) has several of all three units (1-DIN CANBUS, 1-DIN non-CANBUS, W203/W209 style) and I believe the price is $250 shipped (double check with him or back with me in a couple days). You may find these on eBay occasionally for cheaper, but keep in mind that Steve actually knows what different versions he has and can confirm how it will work in your car.

erm...the W202 C-class has CANBUS eversince the electrical update (oval switches instead of squarish switches) in 1995...
