1999 ML430

Comand install in my 99 ML430.....

Here are the pics of my new Comand System. This is one nice upgrade. Steve and Dean were great. They made the install seem simple although it was not. I watched as they took my ML apart and put it back together. The center console and, the whole passenger side to install new wiring for the speed pulse and the new fiber optic CD changer. Everything works great and looks great. The total cost was $2075 including the command manual. Basic cost would have been $1325 but since my model and year needed extra parts and cables it was somewhat more. Just my lot in life. I feel that was a great deal for all parts and their labor. A big plus was all the conversation we had. After all was said and done the nav fired up within a few minutes and we were locked on to no less than 7 satellites. Only thing is I forgot to bring my digi cam during install. Too excited I guess haha. Enjoy the pics. You were right Tony.

Hi Bill,

It was nice meeting you and working on your car...a very nice and clean M-class!

If it wasn't for that additional speedpulse and fiber optic CD changer plus wiring, comand would have been a lot cheaper and easier to install...

Is all CD-Rom the same?

Is the ML Comand CD-Rom map can run on C-class Comand? I heard they are different.
I am waiting for BilM to mail me the CD-rom map...Thanks BillM!

Davis, you misunderstand. I had a Mercedes Comand System installed in my ML not the MCS that comes on the ML. The disk I sent you is for the Comand System. It will work just fine.

So which dealer are you going to visit to active the Comand into the center display? I'll try Auto Stiengler @ Encino first on Wed.
Hope they won't give me some run arounds...

I do not have to have it activated. It worked fine from the start. Different models and years. Hopefully you will not have any problems. All they have to do is code the AAM for Comand. Should only take them 10 minutes. Good luck. You should have the disk tomorrow.
