..........by the way, has anyone on this board actually successfully done any business with Nav-TV in USA? I have spoken to them several times, but I don't get very far. They were generally quite vague and had no yes or no answers. Wondering if anyone's experience is different?

In a desperate measure, I called nav-tv to see if they could remove the interlocks as I could not get all the interlocks removed with the local tech. Nav-tv said they could but for a fat $300 bones. What a complete ripoff! When you have the only widget in town, you can charge whatever you can. Again, I was desperate so I shelled out the money, had my car stereo shop remove and ship it off to them. They have an account with nav-tv so has dealt with them in the past. Sent it on a Thurs. and received it back the next Thurs. Besides a fine tuning problem which mysteriously went away, I have had no complaints.

Dear friends, I think there are two ways for remove interlocks. A- Send your unit to Megacomm, Germany, it is cheaper than nav-tv and serious people, they did it in my unit ok. B- Richard, is maiking a device that let you change tv interlocks without dissasemble your unit from your car. I don´t know when will be ready to use

Cone,

I was originally thinking about sending it to megacomm as your suggestion but did not get any reply to multiple email or voice mail from them. Also shipping would have been very expensive for me

I was told view while in motion is illegal in the US and Dealerships can be fined for activation - thus to be safe they removed the capability.

Wow, thread from the dead.

COMANDs can be reprogrammed at your local MBenzNL service center. Cheaper than $300.

...........this topic is endless. NO!!!!.........Megacomm is definitely and absolutely not cheaper or easier to use than Nav-tv. First of all, folks at Megacomm act like snobs and WILL not return your e-mail message. They are quiote knowledgeable, but they must be the most difficult group to work with for MB owners especially if you live in North America. Secondly, By the time you ship your unit from to Germany and get it back, I am sure it will be longer and more expensive than the 24hr turn around time that Nav-tv now offers.
For all practical purposes, in North America, it is not possible to turn on your TV function and be able to watch Tv while driving. The North American dealers are simply not knowledgeable enough or are not allowed to do it. All you get is a blank stare.

..........lastly, Richard is long time member of the forum and from all accounts is a nice guy, but whatever he is working on is not yet available and has not been available since he started working on it two years ago. So, for perople who want this done, Megacomm and Richard are not practical options.

We took a W203 with TV tuner to a US dealership to have it reprogrammed by one of the very few techs in the LA area that actually knew what he was doing and ended up with the same result...
I doubt whether it is easily possible for a deaelrship to make view while in motion possible for the dealership any longer...

greetingz,
Steve,

When you are in Chicago can you let me know? I'd like to have you do the programing on my G. This tuner install is actually pretty easy in a G, if we get the programming done I'll be happy to buy the tuner and install myself. I'll pay for the service, not looking for a free ride.

Let me know if you still need a Chicago location. I may have some options that could work.

Dave

Megacomm must be the less customer friendly company on the web I know...eventhough I wrote them in German and have a German shipping address they didn't even bother to reply a single email...
Their diagnostic tool is WAY TOO EXPENSIVE...it costs MORE then the FULL STARDIAG BASIC in europe!!!
I myself have the MB stardiagnose (two in fact) with latest software version AND the ability to enable TV while in motion (which only took a small software change in the stardiagnose)...so who ever is interested in TV in motion enabling - we can have that done for a lot less then whatever other companies are quoting and can do that in california or netherlands...so no need to ship the unit half across the world.

chicago people wanting to meet me and have some done...mail me at Steve@MBenzNL.com

Secret Menu ?

Hi all,

Please take a look at this site:
http://www.tienda.de/
Search for "comand".

Your will get an offer for interlock removal intructions, based on "secret menus".
Is this possible?
Did anyone ever try this?

Miguel

Qty: Price:
1-2 50,00 €
3- 47,50 €

Hi Everyone
It is now possible to convert ALL MB comand units to a DVD/TV screen. This mod will give you 2 video inputs 1 for dvd and 1 for backup camera. The unit will auto switch to backup camera when you put the car in reverse.
Yes you will have video in motion. If you have an aux adapter your audio will
be via aux, if not we make an excellent FM mod which has excellent sound.
Feel free to call us at 718-763-7367 or email us at sales@tvandNav2Go.com
or visit us at www.TVandNav2Go.com
Thanks Dominic :zoom
