Thumbs up Command Tv Interlocks Disabled

Can any one provide me with step by step instructions on how to disable the TV INTERLOCKS using the Star Diagnosis. The Command we are refering to is a 2003 CL 600 16:9 format wide screen. A technician at a local dealership is willing to disable the TV INTERLOCKS for me but is not quite sure of the exact process. He thought he disabled the INTERLOCKS however the TV still does not play while in motion. I believe he disabled something because previous to him disabling the INTERLOCKS i was unable to watch the tv unless the shifter was in park and the parking brake was pressed down. NOW i am able to pull the shifter to drive and release the parking brake and the TV FUNCTION is still visible however when i drive say over 5mph the screen blacks out. Any information would be GREAT!!!!

Same here...I had 6 comands set to view while in motion...1 for the 2003 CL/S-class and 5 for the W203 C-class...

All comands do display TV when the parking brakes is off and the shifter is not in P (which was different before the safety features were still active) but NOT while in motion...
We took a W203 with TV tuner to a US dealership to have it reprogrammed by one of the very few techs in the LA area that actually knew what he was doing and ended up with the same result...
I doubt whether it is easily possible for a deaelrship to make view while in motion possible for the dealership any longer...

so do you think it is not possible at all? the tech told me to do some research and see exactly what screens he needs to go into to disable the TV INTERLOCKS, and bring back the car to him to see if we can get it to work. So if you have any guidance for me to give to him when i take my car back to him i would appreciate it. ill keep you all informed!!!

From what I've been reading, only a certain version of the STAR Diagnosis System can disable the interlock. The older versions (unsure of the version number) can fully disable it, i.e. video while in motion, while the newer version will not permit the disabling.

Do a search on "Richard"'s posts and maybe he mentions the version that can disable the interlock and see if the tech you are dealing with has the same version. Good luck and let us know what you find out.

............I am almost done fiddling with my CLK32K and I am in the market for a new car. It has been really hard to become impressed by another car after the modifications I did to my car except if I can do the same things to the new car. For this reason, I am waiting to see if someone will figure out this safety interlock issue in the new Mb's.......otherwise I'll just drive my CLk with TV, PS2, DVD player, DVD changer,V60, wireless internet etc. all of which work while in motion. My info is that dealers for legal reasons have to upgrade their software when provided to them by Mercedes. For this reason, their is unlikely to be a dealer that can do this.........so going to dealer will be a waste of time. The software was changed in june 2002. Even independent Audio/video people such as Braybrooks in the UK were caught off guard by the change in the Star program. Whoever figures this out is in to make some cash.

Recently, I Visited the Brabus Factory in Germany, with the MBOC of Great Britain.

I asked the guy giving the factory tour about the modification to disable the interlock. He asked for the keys, which he gave to a technician.about 10 minutes later the technician returned the keys. The car had been modified,at no charge !!

I haven't got any idea of exactly what they did, but now the TV works when the car is moving at any speed.

My local MB Dealer tried previously to do the Modification but was unable to.

So Guys now at least you know the mod can be done but I am sorry I cant tell you how !

So the tech has the software available that disables the interlocks? Sounds like good news to me.

How hard is it to go through all the menus to find the interlock settings?

Hello, for the msot cars it`s no problem, you just have to install an old verson of the Stardiagnosis (before 05/2002) then it`s done in 5 mins! But the install will take about two hours!

I'll line up for this. Keep us posted or email/PM me it is setup. I dont use the TV functionality at the moment, i.e. no TV Tuner or RGB Adapter, but I will be very soon and I want to get this interlock taken cared of ASAP. I hope its possible to disable the interlock though I don't have those items yet. Thanks...

Sure, i`m a DC Technican you have to go into the Comand System, then there is a menu where you can change all the settings and in this menu there`s a point called "TV Parameters" or something like that, there you can change the settings for the lock!

Chris

P.S. If u like i can see at tuesday how the points are called in english!

Good luck Jay. Soon you too may be cruising the freeways with James Bond on the front screen and the cool music in the background.

Good Luck too Jay.. Hopefully it works.. I want to put some kinda of DVD/MP3 player so I can at least read the titles of the tracks its playing.

To anyone out there... Do you guys know of any good car DVD/MP3 player that has some cool Spectrum Analyzer or graphics? I know most of the DVD players out there just show the blue screen with a track name.

I was thinking of taking apart the X-Box and using that since I hacked it already and it has all these cool graphics while playing music files..

I have just had my SL500, R230 (Nov 2001) TV Command enabled to give you video in motion. The UK Company Nav-TV claims to be the only one in the UK. I am very really pleased with the results.

I drove the car down to a garage in Cardiff called Nav-TV Uk. They simply plugged a laptop into the car via a lead under the steering wheel and 6.5 seconds later it was done.

Apparently the software was specially written to disable 5 interlocks. MB dealers in the UK can only disable 2 devices and can't get it to work. They claim the software took 8 months of R&D and was released June 2002.

They charge £275.00 including VAT for this, alternatively they are happy for your dealer to send them the command unit and they will return it by carrier all done.

I said that I would post the information on the MB website with there contact details. Contact Nav TV Uk on www.nav-tv.co.uk and ask for Julian Harvey on Tel : 029 2048 4444. Mention that you found the information on this posting board.
