W210 radio/cd code and/or removal?
Hi, I bought a '98 E240 a few weeks ago and had some work done almost straight away, battery was disconnected or something and now the radio wants a code which I don't have.
I've called my local Mercedes dealer and they looked it up but don't have a code for my VIN, told me the unit must not be the original one. They gave me a form to fill out and fax to someone (along with $20) for a code but I need the serial number from the back of the radio/tape player.
The place i bought the car from did mention something about the serial number or unlock code being written in the manual (but they won't return my calls now due to some unrelated drama
). I've since searched the manual and found a six digit number written in by hand.
I almost bought the removal tool things from ebay for $5 but I had a closer look at the unit and there are no little slot holes, just 4 smaller round holes???
Here's the pic, there is also a sony, 10cd stacker in the boot.

It was all working during the half an hour after I bought the car and before it got towed![rolf](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/rofl.gif)
Does anyone know how many digits in the unlock code and how many in the serial number on the back of the unit? If the six numbers written in the manual are one of them then it might save me having to pull the ***** out![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
If that doesn't work does anyone know how to get it out when it has the 4 little round holes instead of 2 slotty holes?
Thank's for looking

Nevermind, got it going!
Gave up searching for how to remove this exact unit and just googled how to remove car radio's generally. Made my little hook tool things with an old coathanger, hooked it out of there in about 20 seconds and got the make (eurovox), model and serial numbers. Neither of them matched up with the 6 digit number written in the manual but when I googled 'eurovox radio code' I found out that some of them have 4 digit codes and some have 6. I looked up how to enter the 6 digit code, tried the numbers in the book and it works.
Sounds simple enough but i've never had to deal with this car radio code stuff. Anyway, it sounds great now.

You're going to need Metra 86-9001 European radio removal tools to remove the radio from the 2001 CLK 430. Keep in mind you're also going to need the GPS antenna and the harness that plugs into the radio might be different then the one in your car.
