Comand cd-rom in changer?

Can the cd-rom for the Comand navigation in a 2003 CLK be placed in the CD Changer or must it be in the in-dash location? I purchased a CLK 500 with no Nav over the weekend and the lack of in-dash CD Player is a real nusince. I'm thinking of adding the Euro Comand simply for the in-dash CD. If the Nav CD-Rom can be put in the changer, the upgrade is a no-brainer since i'll be able to use the Nav too...

I have a solution for you...

I have a Mercedes Audio 10 Single CD Head unit for sale which will fit your car perfectly. It's a head unit that is not available in the US but is widely recognised as having much better sound quality than the cassette unit fitted to US models!

The unit is in perfect condition and came out of my one month old car which has only done 400 miles.

The unit is available from autoclass.net for $649 and I'm selling mine for $250+shipping.

The photo below shows an identical unit installed:

William, I don't know if you're reading this, but the COMAND integrates with the car's built in phone so it can be dialed from the keypad. Same with the Audio 10 Cassette. Does this work with the Audio 10 CD?

Thanks,

If I understand you correctly, you have the standard radio with a ch changer in the glove compartment?

If yes and you want to add a comand unit, you will gain nothing besides the nav feature. Only the comand unit player is a cd-rom and the nav cd's cannot be read by the changer so you still need to pull the nav cd to listen to music.

In case you don't have a changer either, just go back and spend another $400.

Yeah, I figured that was the case but was hoping otherwise. Since it's only $1300 to get the Nav installed I'll just do that and call it an expensive in-dash cd player. But, it'll be nice to have the Nav once in awhile...

Thanks for the info.
