DIY sub and amp install link?

Hi,

I'm a new owner of a W208 CLK55 and want to install a sub and amp in the back. I wish to keep the stock head unit though. Is there a handy DIY link that one of you guys can send me?

TIA,
mike

Sub install

I just installed a 12" sub and pioneer amp in my SLK230. Though mine was into my spare tire well. I used a rockford line level converter. Clips right onto your stock Bose head unit and gives you L / R line level for your amp. It also has levels for both channels to balance your output to the amp. check you the forum at benzborld.com Link to my SLK230 install

What do you mean the line converter "clips" onto the stock bose HU. I would reallly like to know as I am considering getting a sub in my trunk. What you;re basically saying is that this line converter enable you to just hook up a sub to it via RCA?

you will need an adjustable line converter, to make this easy for yourself you can grab your signal from your rear speakers in the trunk... you will then run a set of RCAs to the amp... you will also need to run 3 power cables... 2 to the battery and one to the radio... large gauge power cables would go to the negative and positive terminals on your battery then the third would go to the remote turn on wire on the radio, you would need to test this one as I am not certain which one would be it for you... your radio turns on with the car off so you would want to keep this feature...

Audio Control LC6. Made just for this purpose. Takes the high levels from your factory amp in the trunk and converts them to low level. $150
If you really want to go high end, there is nothing better than Zapco's Symbilink. The Audio Control LC6 was made just for this purpose in Mercedes & BMW where they now you are going to keep the factory head unit.
