Another person reports some success getting an A2DP dongle to work via his iPod cable, and also pair the phone via his installed MB system - but pairing both required a bit of a "dance." See post #5 at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/audi...merc-s-bt.html

I bought a number of these adapters and the 12V to 5V connector without any luck.

If you happened to know anyone with a W164 ML [08, if possible], and could test out that bluetooth connection with A2DP streaming that'd be freakin awesome!

I may just end up buying/testing/returning, but let me know if you happen to be able to test it out for me.

Thanks!

I just ordered the Auris Bluetooth 4.0 to 30 pin, I should have it in about a week. I'll post the results on my 09 gl450.

Ordered this: http://www.viseeostore.com/products/...r-wma1000.html
I got it from Amazon and it came pretty quickly.

It works as described and I can get Pandora to work also. The only downside is that you can't control Pandora from your steering wheel or head unit and it will only read out the first song that plays on Pandora. iPod/iPhone functions and meta tag info works as described.

I know this is an old thread but did anyone have any luck with the regular A2DP bluetooth adaptor and 12v to 5v converter...I have both, plugged it in. and the A2DP adaptor is charging and sending signal to my phone perfectly...Unfortunately, the car does not recognize that theres an iPod attached...it sends back an "error" message followed by a "connecting" message.

is there something I have to do? some trick in pairing? I would buy the tune2air but it seems very expensive for what it does. especially since some people have figured out how to connect these bluetooth wireless devices...heres some pictures of what Im talking about...

I have the same setup as you. The display is going to give you an Error. You can't control the iPhone with the steering wheel when connected through Bluetooth.

You should just be able to connect your phone to the A2DP adapter from your phone. Then put your stereo source to AUX then play music from your phone and it should come out of the speakers.

"Should" is the magic word here...lol but unfortunately it does not. the error message stays on and then switches to "please wait" from time to time...my guess is that its searching for the iPod and until it finds it, it will not send out an audio signal.
the setup does however work on a mobile aftermarket stereo speaker system with the 30pin dock...as long as its not in the car...everything seems to work well

Maybe there's something with the SUVs that doesn't work. Look above at post #27 and 30 from jakeg104. He got it to work with his E but not his GL.

One day, I was listening to pandora and I guess the phone accidentally read the cars phone bluetooth signal as an external audio source and low and behold...pandora was being streamed through the phone setting on the car.
I was never able to reproduce that unfortunately...I was inside a parking garage so maybe there was some type of interference in the air...but it would be nice to just stream audio through the phone on the car.

I picked up an iWave adapter from eBay for $7 (free shipping) - plugged it in and it works great. My only complaint is that it's subject to the same limited volume as the iPod itself is.

BTW: I'm pairing it with my HTC EVO 4G LTE / Android 4.3 phone.

thats cool...pictures? mine is an i wave as well...will not even turn on unless the 12v to 5v converter is also plugged in...it has nothing to do with the phone your using, as long as it recognizes the iWave then its fine...my iPhone 5 recognizes it perfectly...but my GLK on the otherhand is still trying to find the damn ipod...I left it plugged in ever since in hopes that one day it finds it...lol

I'm aware of how bluetooth works (I'm a web/Android developer) - mostly I was pointing out that folks don't need an iPhone to make it work.

I can't tell you why one COMAND system would play with an iPod error displayed while another would continue to requery for a device.

That's ok, just wish it would work. As if right now...a 3ft cord connected to the glove box is about as much "media interface" I'm getting... Sucks having all those wires coming out of the glove box...

i have a 2008 C350 with newer ipod integration interface. I bought both the 12v-5v adapter and the iwave and i get no sound. pairs up fine I plugged the dongle into a radio dock I use then i am in the garage and sound would come out but there was a loud hissing interferance. i tried it with and without the voltage adapter. either way it doesn't work for my car. i even tired in my other car that has an after market head unit and ipod cable, it didn't work there either. oh well.

I have the same one, I'll retry it again tonight. I really want it to work on my after market radio more so than the Mercedes.

I have used it with great success. The only downside to it is that it eventually seems to lose it's ability to display the current track name when you are streaming Pandora. Also happens with iTunes Radio, but less so. Regular tracks that reside in your device will always appear as expected. Oh, and I connect an iPhone 5s to it. Haven't been able to use it though as it mysteriously disappeared from my glovebox during my last service visit. :-/
