Magellan 750 Navigation System. Anyone?
I recently purchased the portable version of this system (750M plus) and love it. As most of its use is in my '99 CLK I thought I'd buy one the Magellan's "2nd car" kits and do a semi-permanent install for the car.
If you are using this in a CLK, or any MB, I'd appreciate any advice you have on permanent installation. Of particular interest is location of the antenna, type of display mount, and an assessment on the cost/difficulty of the installation.
Thank you.

I have a 750M and have been using it for a couple years. It's the same thing Hertz uses in their NeverLost. The only thing I wish is there's more details on the maps and the base unit would take the floor space on the passenger side. I don't think the installtion is that difficult on the 750 NAV if you know what you're doing with the wiring. Good luck.

I have the 750M semi-permanently installed in my previous car. I bought the kit online and paid a qualified dealer $100 to install it. They put the main unit in the trunk of the car and ran the antenna up to the rear roof. My 750M nav system was awesome. I even named her Lucy.
I got my 03 CLK 500 with the MB Nav system. This system sucks compared to the 750 Nav systems.

I mounted it via goose neck. The goose neck costs about $35 dollars and mounts on the side of your shifter. The goose neck can also be used for mounting a in car phone.
I went to the Magellan website and called one of their authorized installers.

No drilling. Just three tiny self tapering screws about 1/4 inch long. They screw to the bottom of the goose neck...where the carpet is, so no damage to any plastic parts.
It's pretty easy. I would say it should take you less than 5 mins to install.
You can call Audio 2000 and ask them to ship you one.
good luck

Then you have to look down if you want to see the maps? Right now I have mine mounted on a window mount right next to the streering wheel. But sometimes it falls off during hard braking and too bouncy. Need to find a better way. Guess I could use the gooseneck and mount the base to the side of the center console instead of the floor. Will check and see. Thanks.
