Bringing out the sound more
Hello. I have a 2009 W211 E350 with the HK system. I was wondering what I can do to get more bass out of the stock components. Is there a stock amp that I can upgrade? Or do I have to get upgraded subs and components and what not...

I'd replace the stock amp with a more powerful one 1st. Then if it is still not to your liking, i'd think about replacing speakers and/or adding a sub. I went full tilt and did it all right away

Would you be able to recommend any amps? Something that I can run safely without having to worry about blowing my stock components.
I'm pretty sure just upgrading the stock amp would be more than enough for me. I used t rock a ported box with 2x12" subs but I'm not looking for that much bass anymore.

There are many good brands of amps out there. I like ARC, Crescendo, Sundown, & Planet Audio myself. However, there is nothing wrong with Alpine, Rockford Fosgate, JL audio etc. Choice of brand is highly debatable just make sure you don't buy the entry level series of any brand unless it is a strictly competition/high quality brand. I would just go to a quality local stereo shop and listen to some different set ups. Any aftermarket amp you get will most likely have the ability to blow your stock speakers, so as far as that is concerned, the power is in your hands .

I had a chat with a rep from Crutchfield and he recommended I get a powered sub (sub with an amp built into it). A fairly popular one @ 200 watts rms retails for about $200. Any thoughts on powered subs?

Crutchfield is OK for advise, but not really the top on authority. what i suggest is that you visit a couple of great shops in your area and listen to some of their vehicles, put together a budget of wants and needs. the powered subs are pretty lame.
