Help in OBD buy

Hello, I want to star using an OBD for my cars and for also my father´s car. The cars are CLK 320 CDI (W209; 2008); E 320 CDI (W211; 2007); E 320 CDI (W210; 2001) I want to buy one for do these things:
-Read the codes when the cars have problems.
-Reset the oil changes
-Read the temperature of the transmission in order to change the transmission fluid.
-Reset the instruments console of the W210, because at the first time, the car had a GPS, and with it you could change the hour that is close to the odometer. But now, there is no GPS, just a simple radio CD, and the console buttons for the hours don´t work properly, so the thing it´s to reset the instrument panel.
-Read the injectors to view the result when they are clean or not.
Which OBD do you recommend me? I don´t have an IBM, so I just want to use a normal laptop.
Thanks a lot

I don't think you can do all that with anything else than Star Diagnosis or some other, generic, professional tools like Bosch and Launch. The latter ones are much more expensive than a Star (for private use).

What is your budget? SDS works on several computers but I would recommend not using a virtual machine (which means only a few laptop brands have a hard drive readily installed).

Hello, in order to clarify, I just only want to see the inyector parameters, then try XENUM in and out , and then see the difference before and after, that´s all.
I think that the Star C3 machines that people buy, there is no problem to do this staff.
Thanks

I use a Dell 630 laptop. Very quick (2.2 Ghz, 4 gigs memory).

Works great running DAS/Xentry/WIS/EPC under Windows XP SP3 and has a true RS232 serial port for connection to the MUX.

Your questions are a bit confusing, IBM is a normal laptop to me, to start with.

D630 is one of the most popular laptops, hard drives with native SW installation are easily available for this as well as the IBM T30.

D630 probably runs a virtual machine decently too if you don't want to swap hard drives.

What is your connectivity concern?

Get a c3 running in VMware player in a laptop with at least 4gb of ram. It will be a little slow, but will work reliably on the vehicles you have mentioned. You want a c3 and not a generic odb scanner as with your cars (mostly cdi) you will need the ability to reset the engine mgmt adaptations when you change the air filters during routine maintenance.

A friendly advice- play a bit in emulation mode to learn the menus and what they do. You will most likely get a developer edition (most Chinese das are dev editions). Do not play in developers mode (it is mostly in German) or you can seriously damage (or brick) your car.

They will ship it with a misleading content label (generic item) so there is a good chance you will not to have pay customs, duties, etc.
