How to install Satellite Radio on 2011 c300 that does not have it!

Hello!

I was hoping someone could help me find a solution to my problem.

Last week, i traded in my 2008 c300 for a 2011 c300. my 2008 c300 had Sirius Satellite Radio. I mistakenly thought my 2011 c300 would also come with this feature. Unfortunately it does not. When i press radio, it goes am/fm/wb and then back to am. I asked the dealer where i purchased the car LAST WEEK whether there was a way to install Sirius Satellite radio. They told me i have two options: either buy an aftermarket satellite radio (which would then leave me with an ugly second screen) or at the dealer, they can remove the entire radio component and screen the car has now, and install a new radio component that has satellite radio. This would run approximately $1800.00. Does anyone know of any other way to install satellite radio through the car's radio without having to pay an additional $1800??

i live in miami, so if anyone knows of any electronics place that would do that in miami, please let me know!

wow, I am amazed that the dealer would offer the add on satellite, I would think that would be way out of their realm. Sounds like a good dealer if they aren't blowing smoke up your pipe... and just telling you a random number.

ask them to borrow the 08, and take it out

as for the aftermarket unit or units, there is only the ugly version that mount to the dash, window, glovebox, etc... however it is the most economical of the 2 options.

Also you can look for a used one on ebay or in a salvage yard

Good luck with it.

Hey, I have a 12 c300. And looking to do the same. My dealer told me about $2000.
Anyone have an idea? I hate to lose functionality of the wheel and steering wheel. Is the car pre-wired? To what extent? Just hardware? Or do I have take out the dash down to firewall?? Lol. Jk
Help....?

Im going the cheap route and just adding a sirius car unit.

The antenna magnet will not stick to the trunk lid due to pain thickness.

I want to mount the antenna on the underside of the trunk lid. Has anyone done that? Does it work?

PLEASE HELP! I'm planning doing a road trip next week with some friends and decided to open a Sirius satellite radio account. How can I tell if my radio is applicable?

Please let me know how you did this. I am looking to do this for the 2013 GLK 350 we just bought.
Thanks, SLJBLJ09
