Which iPod version IS CHARGING with the iPhone/iPad MB OEM cable ???
RE: Which iPod version IS CHARGING with the iPhone/iPad interface MB OEM cable ???
I currently have MB OEM cable for iPhone/iPad & AUX in my 2009 SL550:
this is the actual cable:
1) Thus far NONE of the generic MP3 players or even iPhone connected via
regular double 3.5mm jack cable was ever recognized by my car.
2) when I connected my old 30GB iPod Classic - the car recognized it as well
as all the songs, artists, albums etc. Unfortunately the HD in this device is
half-dead and sometimes it takes forever to find and play a song - i.e I need
to retire this device. MOST importantly - when this device was connected, it
was also getting charged.
Having the success with Apple connection, my thinking is to add a used
(but more more modern than my old Classic) iPod, iPod Touch or iPod Nano.
These new devices have flash memory and are a LOT less prone to dying
prematurely due to HD failure (like my classic).
The problem is - I am not sure which version of these apple products will
be CHARGING WHILE SELECTED (like my old iPod Classic did). This is very
important to me as I do not want to bother to take this thing out just to
charge it on a regular basis. My plan is to load it up with thousands songs
and forget about it !
Right now I was just testing my sister's Nano. Connects & plays fine with
fast searches and selections - but it does NOT charge while selected !
Hence my main question of this post:
Please let me know which of your APPLE products IS and IS NOT Charging while
connected and selected by the COMMAND system:
HERE they are generation by generation.
Please let me know what Apple product you use that is charging & what car do you have.
This would help me GREATLY when selecting the iPod I would buy.
(Any comments regarding my lack of success while connecting a generic
MP3 player via the second of the two cables, would be also appreciated)
Thank you kindly in advance !
