2009 R350

aftermarket headrest dvd - active headrests

i just purchased a 2009 R350 and am looking to install an aftermarket headrest DVD player.
i am aware that originals have the active restraint system installed.
my question is this, besides the obvious deactivation of the active restraint system, what impact will disconnecting the system to install the new headrests have on other safety systems in the vehicle.

the owners manual states that disconnecting the active headrest could prevent the side curtain airbags from deploying. is this correct ?
would any other restraint systems fail to operate if the active headrest restraint system is disconnected ?

should be no problem, call and ask for tj at mid city engineering, or eric, as they have a bypass for the plug. I have done about 100 rear dvd systems over the years and 99% were all replacements of the headrest

as for just disconnecting the headrest, you will get a an airbag fault code

and just for the record, this is the stupidest system I have ever seen...
