Blue Tooth for a 2004 E320

What a joke. I just bought a "new" 2004 E320 and I wanted to get the phone added to my car. I knew that I needed a PUC B67875855 that is listed in MB4Wirelss. All the 2003-2004 E Class cars come pre-wired for Blue tooth. I went to Benzel Bush in Englewood, and there I was met by a guy who could or not speak English. I told him what I wanted. he derided me and told me that the Blue Tooth was not invented in 2004, and the only way was to use a aftermarket system named "Parrot". He called a "Specialist" on the phone and they came out with $1400 in parts plus labor. I knew that this was a reap off scheme and I insisted that this cannot be true, he called on the next "service manager" who told me that it is not worth and this is the one and only alternative. They did not even checked the MB site.
I expected the service people not to know anything about cars and basically be there just to increase the dealer's profit, but the total ignorance cough me so much by surprise. I went to the parts department and ask for the part. They quoted me around $320. I than called Prestige Motors and they quoted around $280 (it is pre-wired you just plug it in). I went and picked up the part from Prestige and installed in the center console.
I need to program the radio now with the Star system to enable the Blue Tooth.
Does anybody know of a decent dealer or private party with a STAR system that can change the settings inside the radio to Phone= PRESENT and Portable Cellular Phone to FITTED,which will enable the command system to work with the Blue Tooth?

Englewood: Colorado, Florida, Ohio or New Jersey?

It would be helpful if you completed your profile (via the user CP).

It is more accurate to state that the '03 and '04 E-Class come with the CP-211 unit which allows easy addition of either a plug-in cell phone or Bluetooth, but you are essentially correct - and your first dealer tech was an idiot. You plainly knew far more about it than he did - a good thing, too.

You can check http://www.benzworld.org/forums/reco...-repair-shops/ for a list of recommended repair shops in your area.

It is Englewood NJ.
Does anybody know the coding sequence that will allow me to set the "Command" system to be access so i can set the Phone=Present and Cell Phone Fitted?

Yesterday a dealer in Brooklyn NY told me that the Command system should not have to be updated since the Bluetooth is using the TELEAID. I do not believe that it is true.

It is correct what the dealer says, you do not need to version code or modify or update COMAND. It is the instrument cluster that needs version coding to enable the phone menu there.

I would not say the cluster needs an update, it is just version coding. You tell the cluster that the configuration has changed. You need the Star diagnosis tool to change the coding.
