Subwoofer Question (r171 SLK55)

I am a novice when it comes to car audio so please bear with me.

When I bought my car a few years ago, the seller gave me a subwoofer box that contained 2 Alpine Type R 10" Subs. He never used it. I wanted to explore possibly using them. If it proves to be very difficult or possibly can cause more harm than good, I'll sell them.

My questions are:

1. If I sell or modify the current box, I can put 2 separate boxes, one on each side of the trunk on the raised portion (Basically where the raised section angles towards the rear of the car). Is this possible given the space I have?

2. I'm sure I need an amplifier. Which one should I use? I don't know if there are compatible ones that should be used with the stock system. If it matters, I have the Entertainment Package with Navigation. Harmon Kardon system.

3. Is there anything else I should be cautious about or something else that I may need?

I know I would have to get it done professionally but I wanted to get some insight so I don't get ripped off.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
