W210 Replacing Instrument cluster

2001 E320
W210 Replacing Instrument cluster
I replaced the instrument cluster on a 2001 E320 with a BBAreman repaired unit that has the same part number as the original. It functions well but gives a malfunction message code of "Steering Gear Fluid-visit workshop" that cannot be reset. The steering fluid level is fine!
Can anyone advise me on how to make this code go away? Will synching the replacement cluster with the ECU address the inaccurate and pesky malfunction message problem? How much will that cost?
