New Comand does not work...HELP
Hi,
I just bought a Comand for my (W208) 2000 CLK and just wanted to check it works.
I connected plugs A and B (ISO plugs for power and speakers).
I can hear the cooling fan working but no display- the unit doesn't turn on.
I was expecting CD and radio to work.....but nothing.
Fans working so power is going in.
Any ideas....Please help........(i hope it wasn't a waste of money).

Where did you buy the Comand? Was it from Ebay? It sounds like you got a dead unit. I considered myself lucky when I bought a Comand from German Ebay 1 year ago and it works. That is why I bought the second Comand from Steve for my CLK55 to avoid risk like this. It costs a little more but I am garantee a functional unit. Good luck.

Before anyone can give you a proper answer...start by writing down modelyear of the car (with or without steering wheel controls if it is a 99) and partnumber of the comand...

OK...
I have a 2000 CLK (with steering wheel controls, instrument cluster display etc..) and have a A208 820 4489 Comand unit.
The cooling fan comes on and I can insert and eject CD's. But thats it.
No display, radio etc....
Please help......

Oh well, i also bought a Comand 2.0 dx from a 2002 e55, mind turn on perfectly with the MB logo, than navi mode, but i cannot select the AM/FM mode, CD,TEL mode. I did manage to get the radio in the diagnostic (mute with 1+4). In that mode it's find.
Looks like a software glitch, also unable to get the Cd out, i've look at the error code and there was 6 error code, did a clear code with (mute 0) but i still have 3 error code.
To check it i only plug in connector A with power and ground, could that be the problem. If anybody has a list of the error code, i could post mind.
And lastly, does anyone know were we can send the unit to have it check.

Ok...
Got the unit to turn on. But it turns off after some time (Canbus wires are connected).
Once it turns off, it won't turn on again for 2-3 hours.
Radio, display, cd player all worked. So did steering wheel contros.
Also, it doesn't recognise my CD changer (D2B optical and D2B wakeup are connected).
When unit was on, I turned on my car lights and the buttons on the Comand started flashing. They would not illuminate constantly.
Any ideas ???

@ both - it sounds like you have defect units...turcotte probably has a defective front - whatever problem you have, it is not related to the fault codes you see...

Thanks Steve for taking the time to look at our posting even if we bought our unit on Ebay, is there anyway i could pay you with Paypal to help me out with my unit.
Everything works find NAV,CD MUSIC all buttons on front unit but it i can not get the the FM screen on , it is always on WB. The AM/FM button does not do anything either and also the TEL button.
if i do reset in the diagnostic mode, i will see the FM page for a fraction of a second, than it is back to WB. I did manage to get the FM screen on before, but don't know i did it and unable to do it again and when it was on it work perfectly.
It seem' s that everything works, but there seems to be some kind of glitch. The unit is a 2.0 DX from 2002 E55.
If you would be kind enough to help me out , i will gladly pay you a fee with Paypal.
