W211 trunk release (FOB & door) nonfunctional
Greetings,
I've a 2007 E550. Seems there is a control module that is shot. I parked the car and when I shut it off, the dash lit up, then shut down. Now the trunk release does not work. Neither the FOB nor the button in the car opens the trunk. Also, the license plate lights do not light and the third brake light is out.
Any guidance on which control module is out / needs to be replaced? I thought it was the trunk control module (A 211 820 39 85) and replaced it but still getting the same outages after plugging in the new module.

Simple fix....bad engineering
Turns out this is a case of poor engineering. MB engineers run a bundle of wires (not even a wiring harness....) along the trunk lift arm. The arm eventually cuts wires, as was the case here. A piece of electrical tape and a knife to strip the wires and I'm back in business.
