Comand Update

Hello everyone, I just bought a 2008 E350. I had the C300 before this and have noticed that the comand unit is the E350 seems worse than the 2008 C300 comand. The only thing I can think of is that the software is out of date in the E350. I did purchase the 2015 Nav. update DVD, but is there an update for the command unit also? If there is how do I go about getting the update. I believe I have the NTG1 command unit in the car now. I have also thought maybe just go with an aftermarket unit instead. Any suggestions or thoughts are needed.
