. I was thinking of removing the cd changer and adding it that way. Unfortunately my SL wasnt blessed with a AUX input in the glovebox.
There is a very good post on here about removing the cd changer but before I go taking everything apart, im just wondering if im missing a simpler solution?
You could change it to COMAND which has an AUX input

I could but I decided to go with a MCAR https://www.commandonline.co.uk/mcar_umi.html, will get it fitted hopefully in the next couple weeks, the unit does everything I need to do whilst keeping an OEM look.

Unless your SL is model year 2005 - 2008 then mcar won't work
It's an 04 with Audio 20, I contacted the firm CommandOnline in Surrey apparently it'll work.
If the car had and audio 20, that would. But your picture was not an audio 20. I assume comandonline assumed you had an audio 20 if you said you did. The switch over between technology was from June 04 build.
Model Year isn't really used in UK like it is in USA. It's a shame because its a useful differentiator.

Sincerely, thank you. You saved me a massive round trip. I don't know where I got the idea that my head unit was Audio 20.
So now I know its d2b and the only option is the Denison Gateway Lite which isn't exactly what I want.
I think in the end I'll just have to remove everything and put a new amp speakers and head unit in. which is a pity.

I have done quite a few of the aftermarket retro's before, and it isn't too bad of a task, not cheap either if you use quality components. You can do it pretty much all Alpine and be very happy with it. A single 5 channel PDX amp and type R components for the front door or higher end and bi-amp. rears are wired mono and and you can un-mono them and run them off the aftermarket radio, sub will need the voicecoil wired in series if you re-use the factory sub.
