Any experts on Comand 2.0? Won't switch off!

Hi all,

Just retrofitted Comand 2.0 to my year 2000 CLK55 replacing the Audio 30 head unit. I've used both looms from here: https://www.commandonline.co.uk/W208...mand-Retrofit/

Unit power up, recognises the phone and cd changer however the steering wheel controls don't work plus the unit doesn't switch on and off with ignition, it's permanently live. Even when you switch it off using the 'On' button on the unit the fan constantly runs and the button lights are illuminated.

Anybody got any ideas why it does this? Will it require Star programming to resolve?

Had this problem on a COMAND head unit replacement. It was a bad head unit so I sent it back for replacement.

Just in case anybody else ever has this problem I thought I'd post the solution. The canbus connector on the back of the unit needs to be seated very firmly to communicate with the car. It's very easy to snap it in place when it isn't fully home. The grey arm on the connector needs to be fully down before plugging it in. Now it's connected properly it's working fine.

Symptoms of this not connected properly are the unit not switching on/off with the ignition, steering wheel buttons not working and Audio on the cluster display showing '----'.
