Taping subwoofer signal with command w203
Where can I find the subwoofer speaker level input so I can run it into my new sub amp thru hi-low converter?
I got a 12w6v2 powered by an alpine V12 M500.
Also, does anyone have the creos? How much is it & does it work well?

If you have a sedan (like a C32), look for the Bose amp on the passenger side of the trunk.
The big connector on the bottom, with all the wires, has the speaker outputs. For the C32, pin 11 (BNVT) & 19 (VT) are the subwoofer wires.
One of the other W203 models has this on pin 12 (BNYE) & 20 (YE) for the subwoofer wires.
If your car uses the optical D2B (domestic digital bus) for the audio signal, then there are two places to get a signal, one is from the Bose amp, the other would be at/or inside the the Command unit (if inside, then at inputs of the Command audio power amp).

If you have the C32 with the Bose amp, the wiring should be the same as without Commad. The optical link is where the audio is connected between the HU or Command and the Bose.
I quoted you the wire connection for the subwoofer, from the Bose wiring diagram.
Did you want the other speakers also?
I think the four sets of main door speakers are around 6.5". The triangle speakers (tweeter) in the front door is connected in parallel with the front door 6.5" speakers.
There is also a mid fill speaker, with a seperate amp connection to the Bose.
There are six channel outputs on the Bose.

m444 - Thanks for the info.
Do you have the wiring scheme for the other speakers?
Also, how do you remove the speaker cover?
Thanks again.

Bose connections for speakers
Left rear, 15 (BNPK)-, 23 (PK)+
Right rear, 17 (BNWH)-, 25(WH)+
Right Front, 14 (BNOG)+, 22 (OG)-
Left Front, 21 (BNGN)+, 13 (GN)-
Center, 24 (BNGY)-, 16 (GY)+
This is all from the wiring diagram, 2003 C32
I have not pulled the speakers yet, but 6.5" should fit, from all the references I have found, but it may require custom adaptation.
The only company listing speaker size for this car on their website is www.tweeter.com

Thanks again m444. It seems 6 1/2 in front is ok, but the rears are 5 1/4 according to tweeter.
Does anyone know how to pull the speaker cover off?

I am not sure tweeter is correct on the rear door. The other models seem to use around a 6.5" frame on the speaker, from the threads I have read. The 6.5" may fit the rear doors also.

M44 - would it be possible for you to email me the wiring diagram? I have a 2002 C32 w/ the Bose setup and was thinking about upgrading. If I can save some time and use some of the existing infrastructure that would be great. Thanks in advance!

I would have to scan it in.
The useful speaker connections I have already listed previously. There is not much else useful info on the diagram.
The only other wires are the 30A fused 12V, ground, three wires to the mcrophone, one wakeup wire (which uses single wire bus pulses to communicate to the other systems), and the double optical connector.
There is nothing about the inside of the Bose amp in the wiring diagram.
I opened the Bose amp, the optical link is a metal shielded module. One could tap into the inputs of the three IC amplifiers, if they are careful. I wouldn't, though.
I am going to tap into the the inputs of the power IC amplifier in the HU.

I think almost all the wires (except maybe the fused power) exit through a single connector on the bottom of the Bose amp. The optical is a seperate connector.
The only input is essentially the optical link, the microphone input, the wake up wire (single wire bus) and the fused power in.

So while I could tap into the wires coming out of the bottom of the amp to get to the speakers, I wouldn't have any way to get sound from the HU to an alternate amp... darn.
Thanks for the info! Looks like it is back to the drawing board.

Could either run wires from the Head unit or from inside the Bose amp..
I would just tap into the Head unit power IC inputs.
You could open up the Bose unit and grab the signals out of the optical interface, before it gets to the Bose power amp. This is trickier than going into the head unit.
The head unit inputs/ouputs are easy to find. There are four mylar dipped caps for AC coupling of the signals into the head unit audio power IC.

Yes, on mine, there is nothing plugged into the speaker output connector (8 pins). One needs to go inside the unit to find the signals that go into the audio output IC.
On the 2003 C32 US head unit, it's a plugin board, at the tail of the HU (behind the heat sink).

From what it sounds like there is no way to tap the signals coming out of the COMAND short of opening the COMAND and tracing them?
I don't know that I'd spend that much time on it. I was looking for something simple, but opening the COMAND and tracing the router of the output certainly isn't too simple!
Thanks again for your help!!

If you talked to the service guy at the MB dealer nicely, they will print out the wiring diagram for you.
The newer cars use the optical link to deliver sound from the HU to the Bose Amp. You need to check out your specific car to determine, if it is optical for sound link.
Here is the link on unplugging the mic:

is the signal thru the subwoofer wire different from the main speakers? just curious if there would be a difference if you tapped the subwoofer wire versus taking a preamp output from a 4-channel amp powering the main speakers.
