Hi everyone

I just installed a new Clarion CD player into my 99 C230K. The CD player & FM reception are fine....but my AM reception is pretty bad. (OK...no AM bashing! I need AM for traffic info!). I checked the grounding, and it's OK, so I called Crutchfield and they had me connect the VW antenna adaptor blue wire to the Clarion's blue/white power antenna wire. Well, that did not help at all. I noticed that the MB factory harness has a blue/white wire that is an "antenna trigger" wire, which isn't being used. Should that be attached to the Clarion's blue/white wire? Should the VW antenna wire not be used at all? I wanted to ask before I went ahead and re-wired anything.

I think, the antenna trigger wire on the factory radio is to trigger the antenna motor to raise the antenna.
