The phone is the US as of now is a Motorola v60,. I know they offer TDMA and CDMA. Not sure about GSM. Coming later this year is Motorola v600 (GSM) and v710 (CDMA). I have been told that the phones will -- as was the case in the past -- have unique software making "normal" v600s and v710s not work (not integrate with steering wheel and Comand). This is a little inconsistent with what MB does in the rest of the world, but it isn't the first (or last) time the US gets something different. I have an E500 due for delivery in July and I skipped the phone because I don't want the v60 and will wait until the new phones are out (supposed to be August but don't hold your breath).

2004 E500 4MATIC
Just picked up an E500 4MATIC on Friday. Comes with a Motorola v60 with the hands-free option. I was a bit concerned at first as the phone appeared to be a bit of a "downgrade" for me (I had a high end Samsung with color screen, etc.) but thus far I'm very happy with the phone. Actually got 2 phones for the car--one for me and one for my wife. $600 for this phone in "stand-alone" terms certainly isn't cheap, but we both love the voice integration.
