CD/MP3 Changer in a W124
Planning on installing a CD/MP3 changer in my '94 E320 and want to keep the stock head unit. After doing some research, I've come up with the following plan. Does anyone have any experience or could anyone verify if this will work? Many thanks.
Alpine CHA-S634 (Changer)
Precision Interface MBZ-ALP (Stock MB to Alpine MiniBus Interface Adapter)
Alpine KCA-130B (Alpine MiniBus to AI-Bus interface)
Here's a link to someone that has done this on their Acura, so I assume all the interfaces exchange the correct signalling. http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/DIY/Alpine-S634.pdf
I'm no expert in any of this so would greatly appreciate any feedback.

I installed this setup with my friend in his C36:
Stock radio (BE1492, I think... it's a 1995 and I am pretty sure it was after the radio update)
Alpine CHA-S634
Peripheral Electronics interface (the more expensive one, because his radio was newer... it worked with the interface for the older radio, but the changer would lock up when switch tracks too fast)
Worked great!
Note that hte 634 has a switch to select AI Bus or M-bus input. Obviously, we selected M-Bus so that we didn't need the M-Bus to AI-Bus convertor.

Scorchie, thanks for the info. Didn't know about the bus switch selector. Looks like I won't need the one cable. Guess I'll purchase and give it a go.
