Timeport Command question...Verizon CDMA fromTDMA
OK, it was suggested I bring this question over here to the Audio forum.
Rather than pain-of-change (and for several other reasons) I opted to keep the Motorola Timeport in the Command set-up. I bought on Ebay (a while back) a newer TDMA P8767 version (as my old was CDMA and that had no 'future'). This is in the 01 E55.
Anyway, with porting avail in our market I finally tried to fire-up this phone in the car (as it worked fine 'out' of the car. It did not work in the car...does not seem to be able to successfully dial out though all other phone-Command functions seem fine. I'm in hopes I didn't get ripped on the phone buy as there was a problem there........the phone was suppose to have Benz application on it, says Mercedes when powered up.
Question is.....there wasn't any other change in the car's wire & program that was 'phone specific' was there?.......I recall before deliv being asked if I wanted CDMA or TDMA.....but guess I always assumed the only dif was what phone they through in the box in the car......ie there is nothing that should need changing in the car to make this phone functional is there?...how bout an update from MB for the phone/car?
Any other ideas or suggests welcome & appreciated......TIA.

CDMA & TDMA in MB
I have used a CDMA Timeport in a 2001 E55 (without COMAND) but have not tried plugging in a TDMA Timeport in the same car.
In the 2003 SL500 with COMAND I have used both a CDMA V60i and TDMA V60i in the car without changing the in-car setup.
In the 2004 E55 with COMAND, I can plug in either the CDMA V60i or TDMA V60i and both will fire up and work perfectly.
Sorry can't be more helpful, but have you thought about bringing in the car with the phone to a MB dealer? The beauty I like about the MB V60 is that they last as long as the bumper to bumper warranty.

No that is helpful....thanks for the info.
If I recall correctly believe there was a V60 conversion kit for the 2001s.........and I may have to start researching that (or any other options I may have).........I knew the life of the Timeports was eventually be an issue, just was trying to avoid that as long as possible.

With the Timeport, I actually prefered the CDMA version with the superbright screen. Anyway, good luck!
