Escort SRX vs. lidatek

didn't get much response in off topic, so i'll try here. Really need to get a detector / jammer. Two options i'm thinking of are the V1 for radar and lidatek for laser. The big drawback for me is the V1 hanging from the windshield. I can't leave it up there ("smash and grab") and it's a pain in the *** to put it on and off. I use that method now (with a tiny solo) and I get lazy and end up not doing it at all. It seems that the V1 is better than the escort for radar, but what about the escort vs. the lidatek for laser? I really like the stealth install of the SRX, but wondering if at the expense of performance. It seems even w/ the V1 remote you still need to have that big box hanging on the windshield.

I have both V1 and Escort (older SR1 model). The V1 is better at radar detection but not so much better that you will miss alerts. They seem equally good at laser (only detected a couple of times). In my new car (E500, July), I am putting in SRX for two reasons: (1) unobtrusive, hidden install; and (2) the Escort has far fewer false alerts than the V1. I am keeping V1 in another car. I recognize the V1 has a better range but I am willing to sacrifice it for the other attributes.

Have you looked at the K40 installation?
Had mine installed at the dealer and is
fantastic. Cost was about 750.00 on my
2004 S500 and had it on my previous
car 2003 Jag Super v8.

Don't know who's doing my SRX install. The dealer may comp me on the install, or I will use a company I have used before in Roslyn. But I can't remember their name. Only that they are on Northern Blvd near Pt Washington Blvd.

I looked at the K40 -- the dealer was pushing. But feature for feature the Escort looked better and the tests seems to show the Escort performed better. Big negative deal for me with the K40 is no mute button.

sph17: Yes, it was Sound Concepts. they did a very nice install on an E329 of Motorola full install kit. They do K40's mostly but said they would install my SRX when I'm ready.

The SRX installation is very simple. As I said in Off Topic I love my SRX and highly recommend it. I installed mine myself with a friend. Took a few hours but thats because I know jack about the wiring in my car and how to run wires from the front bumper into the inside of the car. If you want to save a few hundred you can definitely do it yourself.

Glad to hear you like the SRX. Do it myself? You gotta be kidding I'm one of those guys who has 6 thumbs and barely knows the difference between a hammer and a screwdriver! Did you buy the SRX directly from Escort? I thought they'd only sell it to new car dealers, which is kind of silly.
