Newbie UHI questions

Hi guys,

I would appreciate some help with phone related questions. I have a brand new E55 with telephone wiring for a Nokia 6310.

Am I right in thinking that it is not UHI pre-wired, and therefore a T610 cradle for UHI is not going to work with it?

If not, what is involved in getting the UHI pre-wiring in? Is it a big job?

Thanks.

the eaisest way to check to see if you have UHi is does your cradle have a coil cord on it. If it does, then it is NOT a uhi cradle. UHI cradle have no cord attached and clip on to the connector undrneath the cradle. see my pictures to see what the uhi cradle looks like. http://homepage.mac.com/drsunilpatel/PhotoAlbum14.html

Thanks sunman. Looks like I don't have UHI.

Any idea if it is possible to retro-fit, and if so, what's involved?

I have done the retrofit but it's not really easy and there is no easy way around it. You'll havae to change the center console harness, main harness, add the UHI PSE in the rear of the trunk, and chanage the floor of the center console to accept the connector for the UHI Clip. It's not easy but it can be done as I have done it already.

BTW, do you have to run the new main harness all the way from the center console to the rear?

Thanks!

Vadim,

Yes you do because the connectors are different. Techinically, you can use the same harness and change the connectors but I don't know the pinouts of the main harness.
