Stereo volume louder when engine is off?

Stereo volume louder when engine is off?
I recently upgraded my stereo (see my sig) and it seems that the output from all the speakers including the sub is lower at the same volume setting on the HU when the engine is running than when it's off.
I have Evosport stage I, so could this be due to the alternator being underdriven? Would a cap help remedy this problem?

thats very strange, because when your motor is on your stereo is running at 14.4volts, (optimum) and off somewhere around 12.9 volts, oh and congrats on the Zapco, the C2K line is one of the very best in production
but even with that regulated amplifer it should still be louder with motor on, it could be because of ambient noises that the stereo seems quieter, is it a big difference?
and I dont reccomend capacitors anymore, a second battery should be done first, but the big three is the best way to make the most of the current available

Those were my thoughts exactly, but I noticed this when I'm parked and the difference in volume (& bass from the sub) is definitely noticible. I have to turn it up a few notches to sustain the same volume when the engine is off.
