thanks eastcoast

...following up this thread about comand installs at the US eastcoast, there are a few things I want to get written on the forum...

The first 'leg' of my US eastcoast trip has ended and it was a true pleasure visitting the US eastcoast again...so much better then the last 2 times I was there!!!
All installs were problemless, people showed up in time for their installs and those who were hosting my stay have surprised me with their superb service.

Stemags, thanks for letting me use your address to send 4 crates with parts to...sorry to leave you behind with the garbage . Thanks also for your hospitality and usage of your driveway...

bklynbenz & fazooley, thanks for driving me and my parts around and providing a place to sleep and a (sheltered) place to work from...being able to do the installs inside on sunday was definitely needed...
The BBQ was great (hard to go back to work after that) and I do apologice for making your entire weekend quite useless Matt (sitting around waiting for me to be finished).

Harris (I don't know your screenname here... ), thanks for the place to work from...being able to work in the shade was definitely needed. I was amazed by the service (drinks and food) and number of times you dropped by to make sure I was doing well...

Neicey, coming to Florida was completely painless...being picked up and dropped off at the airport...having my own climatised apartment to sleep in...and having a garage with 2 fans too keep cool to work in in combination with the suplly of cooled drinks...simply amazing, thanks a lot!

What I didn't like though were the 2 people (1 in NY area and 1 in Washington area) that didn't show up AND didn't even bother to send me a single reply (either to the emails that were send or many voicemails that were left behind)...

Next up: st Louis and Chicago...

greetingz,

uh oh, so does this mean that we can't keep you chained up in the dungeon with no light, food or water until you finish installs when you're in Cali anymore? crap.

Steve thanks for the great install job you did in DC. I really appreciated it. I love my command and my Aux port is amazing. Look forward to seeing you in the DC area again real soon.

Being a man of not many words, I ought to say RTFM but...the beeps are quite annoying and I usually switch them off which you can do in the SYS - SETTINGS menu...

Len, Harris, Duddley, that is always good to hear! See y'all on the next eastcoast trip.

greetingz,
Yeah, even your long arms can't reach far back enough to do damage! hehe, no worries though, I'll be there with the camera to take pictures of you in your capri kart suit with the pushed up sleeves.

Steve,

In your spare time can you research what it would take to replace the CD version of comand with the DVD version in a SL55 2004

No need to wait for spare time to research that...due to a change from D2B fiber to MOST fiber thats swap is not possible unless you swap ALL audio related parts and wiring (headunit, Bose soundsystem, phone, VR, tele aid, SAT radio, TV, CD changer and whatever else the car might have) and even then it might be possible that the MOST system is not compatible with the older SLs (due to possibly changed CANBUS protocols).

Owkay... I can start making a new contact / install list again... For those interested... Hahaha.

It seems that my brother can't get any time off for holidays, or just sitting in his backyard and enjoy the good, sunny Dutch weather (hmm)! That is, if you don't count the rain drops...

Anyways, it's good to see, that you are all very happy with your new toys. Thanks to you all, for hosting and helping Steve to make it a pleasant stay! Great!

Greetingz,

Wanda

Steve,
Thank you for good work. I guess you figured that if I did not come back, the TV did work while in motion.
Also I would like to thank Wanda for being so good and Stemags for taking care of Steve.

Steve I would like to say thanks too. I love my Euro Command and Digital Climate control it really make a big difference to the inside of the car. The Command already got me out of a few jams. Also next time don't tell me how bad my CD Changer was installed if you where around you would have got the job. Looking to get the folder mirrors next trip. I want to thank Stemags also for allowing us to use his house.

e320 Wagon Comand - Thanks Steve!!!

Hey Steve,

Thanks for coming to St. Louis! I wish they would have had better weather for us. The Comand is great, and the Nav helped with the trip back to Kansas City, even my wife was impressed (which after 15 years of marriage isn't easy to do anymore...)!

You did an incredible job on the install and it was fun to chat with you while you were working. I hope I didn't bother you too much.

Maybe when it gets cooler I can talk you into coming to Kansas City for some heated seats and a TV Tuner...

Thanks to Sean as well for hosting Steve and I!

Pete

This is a great post. The comraderie here on this forum is excellent. For a person to be able to come from overseas, install equipment and travel the east coast is a testament to the goodwill of you guys.

Excellent job, and as always the installs look great!
