Speed Controlled Audio Volume Disable

Does anyone know if the annoying speed controlled volume function can be disabled (via SDS/Xentry, Engineering mode, or otherwise) on a 2014 G550 (or any class with the same rev COMAND unit)? There is no obvious menu to do it. I have had success with past MB audio systems, but the with the newer ones, MB seems to be intent upon forcing it on you.

Thanks!

Well, I just spent the morning with a top MB tech (on MB's dime) and we went through the regular menu, the engineering menu, and the Star/SDS menus and it seems the the Uber-Gods in Germany have removed the option to disable the speed-dependent volume control function.

CRAP!!

Why Mercedes Benz is the only automotive manufacturer in the world that puts this non defeatable, annoying BS into their otherwise high performing audio systems is beyond me. And the implementation is really ****-poor too - discrete steps and 30, 60, and 90 MPH - an approach that is over 20 years old - which makes it extra annoying. Someone in the audio engineering department at MB needs to grow a set and tell Marketing that it's 2020 and they need to get with the program.

I ordered the Mid City Engineering video in motion system which is essentially a CAN blocker that makes the head unit think you are stopped and in park all the time. While I do not specifically need VIM, this system should have the extremely beneficial effect of killing the GD speed controlled volume function since the head unit won't be getting the vehicle speed off of CAN B. The only down side is that you have to manually activate the rear camera, but that is a minuscule price to pay to be rid of that pestilence. I hope it works.

Installed the MidCity unit today and it works perfectly to get rid of the f***ing (yes, I hated it more with every passing day) speed controlled volume disruption! At last, I can listen while driving without being driven to distraction by some moron's misguided idea.

Strangely, in spite of what Mid-City said, the back-up camera works just fine with the unit activated. I don't know if this means the that the VIM function doesn't actually work because I have never checked it. The system blocks the SCV function and that is all I want and need. Being rid of the SCV pestilence has totally changed my enjoyment of the truck (for the better, of course).
